O’Mahony calls on HSE to stop confusion with the over 70’s Medical Cards

Mayo Fine Gael TD, John O’Mahony, is calling on the HSE to launch a publicity awareness programme aimed at clarification of the confusion that still surrounds the issue of medical cards for people aged over 70. According to Deputy O’Mahony, constituents have had their medical card removed from them after they returned a letter to the HSE querying their eligibility for the card. The letter should only be returned if the applicant is in receipt of more than €700 per week but because of the confusion surrounding the controversy from its initiation, many people are worried that if they don’t return the letter to the HSE they will lose out.

MAYO Fine Gael TD, John O’Mahony, has described the plight affecting the people of Kilmurry in North Mayo where upwards of eighty homes are still without an official water supply as a scandal of epic proportions. The homes affected are in the town lands of Kildaree, Ballyscanlan, Mautogue, Ballinlobaun, Ballycorroon, Kinard, Carrowgarve, Owenboy, Creevy and Rathmacostello. According to Deputy O’Mahony, all that is preventing the eighty families having a proper water supply is a commitment from the Government and the Minister for the Environment, John Gormley, to provide the necessary funding to connect those people to an official scheme.
