Government & IDA let Mayo down in job creation O’Mahony

MAYO Fine Gael TD, John O’Mahony, has learned that in the three year period between 2006 and 2009 seven prospective investors have visited Mayo as a result of IDA representation while just one company has made a return visit in that same period. Deputy O’Mahony has also learned that the potential investors represented the medical technologies, ICT, International Service and the pharmaceutical sector. To date, no investment has resulted from these visits.

165 incidents committed by people in Mayo while on bail – O’Mahony

MAYO Fine Gael TD, John O’Mahony, has learned that 165 incidents were recorded in Mayo last year when the suspected offender was on bail. The figure is a slight reduction on 2007 but an increase on 2006 when the number of incidents recorded were 156.

17,081 Mayo Students can benefit from FG ‘No Fees’ 3rd Level Reform O’Mahony

Fine Gael today ruled out the introduction of 3rd Level College fees and said that a new Graduate PRSI contribution scheme would raise in the region of €500m per year for the 3rd level sector. The new scheme proposed by Fine Gael would allow for the abolition of college registration fees and see new entrants to college, after graduation, make a contribution through the PRSI system to the value of 30% of the cost of their college education. These funds would be ring fenced for the 3rd level sector.
