Fine Gael Sports Spokesman, John O’Mahony TD, has paid tribute to Leitrim footballer Philly McGuinness who tragically died last night.
“Philly personified everything that is good about young people.
“He played inter-county football for a number of years, always with 100% dedication, passion and belief. Philly was a role model for young players.
“As a former Leitrim manager I understand the importance of Gaelic games in the county and Philly’s tragic death will come as a hammer blow. However, my thoughts in particular are with his family. I know his brothers Michael and John well and the sympathy of everyone involved in sport goes out to them and their family. Ar dheis De go raibh a anam.”
